47% of people living with HIV worldwide are women. We can still achieve Zero new HIV infections, Zero stigma and discrimination and Zero new deaths!
UNAIDS Statistics:
- In 2013, there were 24.7 million [23.5 million – 26.1 million] people living with HIV in
sub-Saharan Africa.
– Women account for 58% of the total number of people living with HIV in sub-Saharan
Africa. - In 2013, there were an estimated 1.5 million [1.3 million – 1.6 million] new HIV
infections in sub-Saharan Africa.
– New HIV infections declined by 33% between 2005 and 2013.
– Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for almost 70% of the global total of new HIV
infections.
