A petition filed on 10 December 2014 to challenge the unconstitutional sterilization by way of tubal ligation of four women living with HIV will continue on 6 March 2018 when one of the petitioners will be cross-examined by the advocates representing Marura Nursing Home, the Minister for Health and Attorney General in Kenya.
The case was filed in the courts in Nairobi four years ago. The petitioners are seeking the court to order the Minister of Health together with the Attorney General to put in place guidelines and policy measures on sterilization and informed consent.
This case was first discovered by ICWEA but was handed over to KELIN a partner organization in Kenya for Litigation. ICWEA however continues to offer psychosocial support to the victims.
