TASO / Global Fund Project is a 3-year project which started in Jan 2021, and is expected to run up-to December 2023. ICWEA, UGANET and HRAPF are part of the SRs and SSRs that are implementing the Global Fund New Funding Mechanism III (NFM III) project under TASO’s coordination as the Principal Recipient (PR).
The strategic objectives of this three-year project are;
- HIV Prevention, Care, Treatment, social support and systems strengthening,
- Reducing human rights-related barriers to HIV/TB services,
- Program Management,
- Community Systems Strengthening, and
- TB Care and Prevention.
ICWEA implements the TASO/ Global Fund NFMIII Project in 33 districts across the country and these include; Buhweju, Buikwe, Buliisa, Bundibugyo, Bushenyi, Gulu, Hoima, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kabale, Kabarole, Kalangala, Kampala, Kanungu, Kasese, Kayunga, Kazo, Kiboga, Kiruhura, Kisoro, Kyankwanzi, Mbarara, Mitooma, Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Ntoroko, Ntungamo, Rubanda, Rubirizi, Rukiiga, Rukungiri, Rwampara and Sheema. Currently, there are several organizations in each district involved in the HIV/TB/Malaria response but working independently or not supporting the works of their counterparts and this is affecting the overall response. We continue to witness cases of service duplication, low coverage for some populations, slow growth of some CSOs/CBOs, low reporting rates, lack of resources and poor representation/participation. This could be attributed to uncoordinated efforts in the HIV/TB and Malaria response.
