The International Community of Women Living with HIV Eastern Africa (ICWEA) joins the women’s movement with great joy to congratulate Ms. Immaculate Owomugisha Bazare who was elected on the ICW Global Executive of the Board (International Steering Committee) as the Treasurer.
Immaculate has served on the ICWEA Board as Treasurer since 2017, a position she has ably held. Besides this, Immaculate is a Legal Advocate by profession and an HIV activist and advocate who has been dedicated to promoting the rights of vulnerable and marginalized women and girls through litigating, challenging health-related rights abuses at national and regional levels.
Immaculate has been at the center of challenging the criminalization of people living with HIV, she has continually promoted the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights of women and girls living with HIV in Uganda, challenging violations against women and girls living with HIV including coerced and forced sterilization and violence against women and girls.
Being elected in this new position you well deserve it and we know you carry with you great wealth to that position including the legal knowledge and expertise that ICWEA has benefited from.
