Uganda CSOs, PLHIV, and Key Population Communities join the Government of Uganda in committing to the elimination of all forms of HIV-related stigma and discrimination. With Financial support from UN Women, ICWEA convened planning meetings and dialogues that culminated into the launch of a campaign on ending all forms of stigma and discrimination on 27th November 2020
A National Task Force has been put in place consisting of seven (7) people (Ministry of Health, UNAIDS, UN Women, People living with HIV, key affected populations, and people with disabilities.) The Steering Committee has a role of understanding and interpreting the government commitment and working together to ensure the commitment is made to good use; development of indicators for measuring progress towards achieving the country commitments and coordination of implementation and monitoring to see what resources are directed to elimination of HIV related Stigma and Discrimination.
Key personalities: Rev. Canon Prof Gideon Byamugisha, Richard Lusimbo, Betty Kwagala, Juliet Awino and Kuraish Mubiru were awarded by ICWEA for their outstanding contribution towards elimination of HIV related Stigma and Discrimination
