This is an awareness and visibility campaing organised by women living with HIV in Zanzibar aimed at highlighting the TB, TB/HIV situation that women living with HIV experience, pointing out key challenges hindering accessibility, and availability of TB services thus leading to over 160,000 women living With HIV dying of TB every year.
The World TB commemoration speaks the Global World TB theme and brings to the attention of the Policy makers, and TB program managers plus all stake holders the critical need to Find, Treat and Cure Women living with HIV (WLHIV) needing TB care and treatment and save 160,000 women dying of TB every year.
Approxiamately 80- 100 participants are expected to participate in this event who will include representatives from the key line ministry of Health and department of TB, CSO, Women living with HIV, other TB program implementers, program planners and UN agencies, health care providers and the general community
Anticipated outcomes of the event/activity
Recommendations from the women living with HIV on how to address the key challenges leading to the needless deaths of women living with HIV made known to the policy makers and program implementers and the community
Strategies to address these gaps will be identified and each of the different stakeholders identify the key roles and responsibilities that they will take on.
