Lilian Mworeko is a gender, human rights, and women’s rights advocate that has pioneered and established networks including the National Forum of people Living with HIV Networks in Uganda and the International Community of Women Living with HIV Eastern Africa (ICW-EA), where is currently the Executive Director. Mworeko leads initiatives to advance laws and policies that promote social justice and uphold human rights in Uganda, including access to HIV and AIDS information, education, treatment, and prevention services. She has been at the forefront of challenging gender norms and gender-based violence that act as structural barriers to an AIDS-free generation. In addition to a number of awards recognizing her work, Mworeko was honored with th eUganda HIV & AIDS Leadership Award in 2016.
