The International Community of Women Living with HIV – Kenya Chapter is seeking $600,000 to implement its newly launched three year strategic plan. The plan which runs from 2018 to 2020 was launched on March 27, 2018 at the Stanley Hotel in Nairobi. The plan has four strategic directions:
1 Increase access and uptake of HIV services by women living with HIV
2. Strengthen community systems and supportive structures
3. Enhance Advocacy and participation of women living with HIV in policy development
4. Strengthen Structural systems of ICW K and lobby for domestic financing.
The Executive Director of National AIDS Control Council in Kenya Ms. Angeline Yiamiton Siparo in her speech commended ICW K for the milestone and said there was however d along way to go with the new infections especially among young women and girls, which remain unacceptably high.
“Sexual violence and other forms of gender violence that accelerate HIV appear to become increasingly normalized. The burden of older women as carers for a growing population of orphans and vulnerable children remains significant and women still loose property for being HIV infected.
This status points to the value of this Stra tegic Plan 2018-2020, which is a fourth generation for ICW.”
She then urged to support the ICW Kenya strategic plan and provide resources for implementation. She also thanked the ICWEA members for having transformed many lives and on behalf on National Aids Control Council committed their support to ICW Kenya.
