WOMEN LIVING WITH HIV CASTIGATE 2016/17 HEALTH BUDGET 1ST/JULY/2016.
Women living HIV in Uganda are castigating the 2016/17 health budget which they say does not really addressing their issues to do with HIV/AIDS.
Addressing a press conference in Kampala today the programme manager, international community of women living with HIV, eastern Africa, Dorothy Namutamba a local CSO advocating for the rights of positive women in the country say, despite the 50% increment in the health this current financial year, nothing positive will be addressed to help make change for the women living with HIV in the country as most of the most is allocated to salaries of MOH officials, rehabilitating health facilities and the UGX.10Bn increment to NMS will not rescue the current situation as compared to the current depreciation of the local currency against the dollar.
Now, Namutamba says, the country is on the verge of facing another ARV stock out, which will be followed with failure to extend services to women and children living with HIV/AIDS thus putting their lives at risk and its upon this matter that the women are strongly urging parliament to expeditiously pass the AIDS policy which will operationalize the AIDS trust fund as well as have the health insurance regulations passed to facilitate health programme that will impact positively to them as well as having supplementary budgets passed which are to fund health matters and not luxurious matters.
This year’s health sector budget stands at UGX.1.828Trn from UGX.1 cialis 5mg.2227Trn last financial year which the advocates no w say will not cause any significant impact to the sector mainly HIV/AIDS programmes.
